How to manage technical data & business intelligence in one container?

Many Applications are in the ‘grey area’. You simply don’t know their relevance to the Business, their real complexity , their potential cost factor when moving them to the new Target Platform.

You need to know the total Content Migration factor as well as the total Business Logic redevelopment factor. Business Logic is expressed in unique templates and for the more smarter orgainzations in templates that resemble (!) Even if a perfect overview would exist of the Apps, you would still need to communicate to the (relevant) Business on whether to place them in or out of scope for the Migration Project.

Some Apps are active now, but have a limited lifecycle. You will also need to define the technical complexities and get the Business to agree on them…

Once you know your scope, you would need to discover functionalities that are no longer used to save costs on redevelopment.

Last but not least, you need to have a plan for those Apps that will never fit in Sharepoint.

Is .NET the answer or Xpages?

Your goals consist of business requirements & cost effectiveness?

Analysis to reduce scope and rationalize the Application Landscape.

Analysis to understand the total content to Migrate.

Analysis to understand the total redevelopment effort expressed in templates and complexity catagories.

Capacity to upfront monetize the Project.

An ‘IT-to-Business’ Survey system to detect future or near future Applications being out of scope.

Insight that can reduce redevelopment effort.

A tool-based methodology...

Our proposed solution includes, an Application Dashboard which, amongst other things, provides:

1. Technical Analysis
2. Business Analysis
3. Application Functionality Analysis
4. Content Export out of Domino
5. Content Import into Sharepoint
6. Synchronization of LDAP & NAB

Optionally, we have solutions for long term retention of data out of Domino...

The Application Dashboard can have some functionalities switched off or on depending on the Customer requirements or Project phase. It is a real collaboration tool the team can use to get agreement on what should be in or out of scope and monitor progress. Stakeholders are IT, Developers, Project Managers and… The Business. This methodology have proven to be very beneficial in fractionated organizations with multiple Apps suspected to deliver the same functionalities (i.e. templates that resemble each other).
